Shri Giriraj Singh, Hon’ble Minister for Textiles, Govt. of India, opens 2nd edition of Bharat Tex 2025 with lamp lighting, applauds event’s scale and sector’s growth and potential

New Delhi/ NCR 12th February 2025: The 2nd edition of Bharat-Tex 2025 being held at India Expo Centre, Greater Noida from 12th to 15th February 2025 and at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi from 14th to 17th February 2025, The fair at India Expo and Mart Limited was declared open today by Shri Giriraj Singh, Hon’ble Minister for Textiles, Govt. of India.

The lamp lighting & ribbon cutting ceremony was also graced by Shri Pabitra Margherita, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles; Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Hon’ble Member Parliament from Gautam Buddha Nagar; Smt. Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary Textiles; Shri Rohit Kansal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textiles;; Ms. Shubhra, Trade Advisor, Ministry of Textiles; and Smt. Amrit Raj, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts): Mrs. Manisha Sensarma, Economic Advisor, Ministry of Textiles among other dignitaries from the Govt. of India.

Present on the occasion were Shri Dileep Baid, Chairman, EPCH; Mr. Naren Goenka, Chairman, Bharat Tex 2025; Shri Bhadresh Dhodia, Co-Chairman BTTF; Shri Sudhir Sekhri, Chairman, AEPC: Shri Vijay Kumar Agarwal, Chairman, TEXPROCIL; Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Secretary General, Bharat Tex 2025, Chairman, IEML and Chief Mentor in a role of Director General, EPCH; Shri Neeraj Khanna, Shri Sagar Mehta, Vice Chairmen-EPCH; Members of Committee of Administration EPCH – Shri O. P. Prahladka, Shri Ravi K Passi, Shri K N Tulasi Rao; Shri Avdesh Agarwal, Shri Girish Kumar Agarwal, Shri Pradeep Muchhala, Mrs Jesmina Zeliang; Shri R. K Verma, Executive Director, EPCH; and organizing member representatives of the Bharat-Tex Trade Federation.

Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Minister of Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh reiterated the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s visionary leadership and warmly welcomed all buyers to the fair, as esteemed guests, embodying the spirit of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava.’ He commended the organizers of Bharat-Tex 2025 for scaling up this first-anniversary event into the world’s largest textile trade fair, attracting buyers from across the globe. Encouraging the sector to aim higher, he urged industry leaders to set ambitious goals for growth and exports.

The Hon’ble Minister also interacted with exhibitors as well as crafts persons showcasing live demonstrations of various craft skills like wood carving, basket making, dhurrie making, etc. Appreciating their expertise and products on display, Shri Giriraj Singh emphasized on ‘local for global’ and market potential of these products.

Shri Pabitra Margherita, Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles said, that after the success of its inaugural edition, this edition has grown significantly, embracing greater inclusivity and a stronger commitment to sustainability. It highlights eco-friendly textiles and allied products and services while celebrating India’s rich artisanal heritage. With a focus on innovation, sustainability, and global collaborations, it sets the stage for a future-driven textile industry.

Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Hon’ble Member Parliament from Gautam Buddha Nagar, praised the sector for its visionary growth and dynamism, where ‘grandeur meets innovation.’ He also commended Dr. Rakesh Kumar for conceptualizing the India Expo Centre & Mart three decades ago, a milestone that has enabled global events at the venue. He highlighted its role in not only boosting business and tourism but also setting the tone for infrastructure development in the region, especially with Asia’s largest airport all set to open in Jewar, UP.

Smt. Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary Textiles, Govt. of India, welcoming all dignitaries, exhibitors and buyers highlighted the presence of the entire textiles value chain integrated under one umbrella through Bharat Tex 2025 – spread across the two grand venues in Delhi NCR. She envisioned that through effective feedback from all stakeholders the show is certain to grow ‘faster- higher-stronger’

Shri Rohit Kansal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India shared how this 2nd edition of Bharat Tex was remarkable as it brought three key arms of the industry under its umbrella – Garment Technology Expo 2025 (GTE), DyeChem World 2025 and India Sourcing Conclave 2025. He said that now globally, Bharat Tex would be the ‘go to place’, a one stop shop for textiles.

Mr. Dileep Baid, Chairman, EPCH, informed, “The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts showcasing 600 participants in this show, including 60 exporters at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan. These are EPCH members and are leading manufacturer exporters who have established market linkages across the world. What they manufacture reaches store shelves in over 100 nations through wholesalers, importers, retailers, etc. Besides, there are 160 GI Handicrafts producers, 36 traditional toy makers, 100 artisans, 44 young designers in a start-up showcase and 5 institutions contributing to industry growth and development.”

Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Secretary General, Bharat Tex 2025, Chairman, IEML and Chief Mentor in a role of Director General, EPCH, said, “I sincerely thank and appreciate the Ministry of Textiles for its guidance and support for organizing this prestigious global textile event, highlighting India’s rich heritage. As a knowledge sharing platform, the event will have Interactive Sessions on ESG in Quality parameters; Cross Border Trade Financing; Logistics and Supply Chain Management as well as a Panel Discussion on Design Strategies for Business in the next days.”

He further added, “The 2nd India Sourcing Conclave 2025 – organized by Buying and Sourcing Consultants of India is being well-attended. Bharat Tex 2025 – Handicrafts also features concurrent events, including Garment Technology Expo 2025 and DyeChem World 2025.”

Bharat Tex 2025-Handicrafts is a significant part of the prestigious global textiles event, organized by the Bharat Tex Trade Federation (BTTF) and supported by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. This mega event, put together by a consortium of 12 Textile Export Promotion Councils and supported by the Ministry of Textiles, showcases the entire Indian textile value chain.

EPCH is a nodal agency for promoting exports of handicrafts from the Country to various destinations of the world and projecting India’s image abroad as reliable supplier of high quality of handicrafts goods & services. The Handicrafts exports during the year 2023-24 was Rs. 32,758.80 Crores (US $ 3,956.46 Million) registering a growth of 9.13% in rupee term & 6.11% in dollar terms over the previous year and the Handicrafts exports during the ten months of the current financial year from April to January, 2024-25 is Rs. 27,087.70 Crores (US$ 3,220.07 Million) registering a growth of over 8.66% in rupee term & 6.89% in dollar terms over the same period of last year informed by Shri R.
