Greater Noida, 9th November 2024 – The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, held a White Coat Ceremony and Oath-taking ceremony for the incoming MBBS batch of 2024, marking the official start of their journey into the medical profession. This year’s batch, the 6th MBBS cohort, was ceremoniously welcomed into the medical fraternity, symbolizing the beginning of their academic and professional journey.
The event was held on the GIMS campus and was graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Atul Goel, Director General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Goel emphasized the noble values of patient care and the immense responsibility that comes with the medical profession. He reminded the students that patient-centered care should always be their top priority, and that they must approach their practice with trust, compassion, and unwavering ethical commitment.
Dr. Saurabh Srivastava, Director of GIMS, delivered an inspiring address, highlighting the significance of the day and reaffirming the institution’s commitment to excellence in medical education. He also presented a report to the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) outlining GIMS’s achievements and future goals.
Dr. Rambha Pathak, Dean of Academics, presented the academic report and warmly welcomed the new students to GIMS. She spoke about the institution’s mission to provide world-class medical education and urged the students to approach their studies with dedication, compassion, and responsibility as they embark on this meaningful journey.

During the White Coat Ceremony, each student of the MBBS Batch of 2024 was presented with the symbolic white coat, marking their formal entry into the medical profession. The event concluded with the Charak Oath, where the students pledged to uphold the ethical values of the medical profession and prioritize patient care above all else.
Dr. Atul Goel, along with the Director and faculty, led the students in taking the Charak Oath, reinforcing their commitment to ethical practice, patient care, and their role as responsible future doctors.
